A decision has been made regarding the quarry

At last the decision has been made regarding the quarry and it’s not good news.  Whilst part of the selected area for Scruton has been discounted, the area closest to the village has been put through as a preferred site.  Attached are details – please look at pages 26-28 Scruton  and pages 33-35 Kirkby Fleetham of the preferred & discounted sites doc.  To summarize the land west of Low Street to the A1 has been discounted (removed from the plan) land East of Low Street to the woods and south to the A684 has been put forward.

I’m sure no one needs reminding of the seriousness of the impact this will have on the village and surrounding area.  The problem is further increased by the land west of Kirkby Fleetham to Low Street has also been put forward as a preferred site.

There is now another period of consultation where views can be put forward to the council.  Closing date is Friday 15th January 2016 at 5pm.

The action group will hold another meeting once we get this organised to formulate the next steps – I’ll send an invite to everyone when arranged.
